Finland's most sustainable products in 2026 are Järvikylä's ready-made salad mixes, Orthex's Paulina sub-irrigation pot, and FabPatch's Clothing Patch.

The Independent Responsibility Panel has named the winners of Finland's Most Responsible Product 2026 competition in three categories. The People's Choice award went to Kinnarin Tila's whole grain oat meal Forest mushrooms and cheese.

The category winners and the public's favorite were announced at the winners' announcement ceremony in Helsinki on November 26, 2025.

Winner of the Food & Drink category

The winner of the Food & Drink category was chosen Järvikylän Pirre, Pertsa, Maukas and Raikas ready-made salad mixes.

Järvikylä's salad mixes are produced in Juva using layer farming. Layer farming takes place in a closed space, which is heated entirely by waste heat produced by LED lighting.

The cultivation is based on a precisely optimized production process that minimizes the use of water, nutrients and energy. Järvikylä's energy-efficient layering and production optimization are done in a way that enables year-round vegetable production near and more sustainably.

“We are happy and immensely proud of this award! It shows that we have made the right choices, and they really matter,” describes Famifarm’s Head of Marketing. Kati Kortelahti.

Winner of the Dressing & Wellbeing category

The winner of the Clothing & Wellbeing category went to FabPatch for Clothing Patches.

Vaatelaastari is a textile repair site made in Finland. The patches are made from yarn made from recycled bottles and knitted so that they are elastic without elastane.

Clothing patches extend the life of clothing and lower the threshold for repairing textiles yourself. They are an easily accessible solution even for those who do not have the craft skills or time to repair clothing.

“Winning the Most Responsible Product in Finland competition means a lot to us. It is confirmation that we are solving a real and everyday problem – how to save your beloved clothes easily and stylishly. For consumers, the award is a promise that FabPatch is not only practical and beautiful, but also a scientifically proven responsible choice. It encourages us to continue working to ensure that more clothes are repaired and less are thrown away,” says FabPatch’s founder and CEO. Taija Sailio.

Winner of the Home & Leisure category

The winner of the Home & Leisure category was selected Orthex Paulina submersible watering pot.

Designed to be long-lasting and durable, the Paulina sub-irrigation pot is made in Finland from 100% recycled material, and all surplus material is recycled into new material. The production uses a closed water cycle, which means no wastewater is generated.

Production is carried out with renewable energy using energy-efficient machines and equipment. Orthex has actively carried out product development to renew its range in a more sustainable direction: recycled raw materials have been chosen as the material and water use and energy efficiency have been taken into account in production.

“We participated in the Finland's Most Responsible Product competition because we believe that responsibly produced products deserve to be seen, and the competition provided a good platform for that,” says Orthex Group's Chief Marketing and Sustainability Officer. Hanna Kukkonen.

Audience favorite

The Most Responsible Product in Finland competition also included the Audience Favorite category, where Kinnarin Tilan's Whole Grain Oat Meal with Wild Mushrooms and Cheese won.

Kinnarin Tilan's Whole Grain Oat Meal with Wild Mushrooms and Cheese is a more sustainable choice, as the meal uses Finnish whole grain oats instead of rice as a side dish.

The meal uses Finnish wild mushrooms, such as porcini mushrooms, black mushrooms and chanterelles, as well as oats produced on the farm. When developing the vegetarian version, the goal was to make the meal as delicious as possible without compromise.

“The win means a lot to us. It’s incredibly great that we can proudly say that consumers feel that we are working towards responsibility. It’s the best feedback a company and product can ever receive,” describes the owner and entrepreneur of Kinnari Farm. Terhi Kinnari.

Finland's Most Responsible Product Competition

The Most Responsible Product in Finland competition is organized by a Finnish sustainability technology company Infine as a partner JCDecaux Finland.

The aim of the competition is to highlight products and services that support a sustainable lifestyle. The competition encourages and supports manufacturers in developing more sustainable products and manufacturing methods. The finalists and winners of the competition are selected by an independent Sustainability Panel, and the competition also includes a public voting category.

Finland's most sustainable product was chosen by the Sustainability Panel, which includes Aalto University's Professor of Responsible Business. Minna Halme, Professor, Director of Syke's Climate Solutions Unit and Chair of the National Climate Panel Jyri Seppälä, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Professor of Applied Ecology, University of Jyväskylä Mikko Mönkkönen, BIOS Research Unit researcher Antti Beaver and responsible consumption expert, sustainability director Markus TerhoThe expert panel's product review is supported by product sustainability assessments produced by Infine.

Finland's most sustainable product has been assessed by comprehensively examining the product's sustainability characteristics.

The assessment takes into account, among other things, climate change, environmental footprint, human rights, labor rights, domesticity and local production, and business ethics. In addition, responsibility is examined in relation to other product offerings on the market.

Manufacturers of participating products receive comprehensive and science-based sustainability assessments from Infine and the Sustainability Panel, as well as visibility through the Ostavastuulliesti.fi website.

The winning products will be rewarded with nationwide outdoor advertising visibility provided by Infine's partner JCDecaux Finland.

Reformed legislation strengthens consumer protection and prevents greenwashing

The Consumer Protection Act will be reformed In Finland during 2026 for the implementation of the green transition to the Consumer Protection Directive.

In practice, this improves consumers' ability to obtain information about the environmental impacts of products and curbs so-called greenwashing. The legislation addresses the making of untrue or misleading environmental claims.

Changing legislation will affect the responsibility communication of products.

The Ostavastuulliesti.fi website and the Finland's Most Responsible Product competition will continue within the limits permitted by law, so that information on product responsibility can continue to be shared in line with the requirements of the legislation.
